At-Home Workouts & Workout #1

Dear Kaia Girls and readers everywhere,

As we approach the second half of December, I urge you to stay active! This is the hardest time of year to stay motivated and keep moving. I know we will all indulge a little more than usual (although I certainly encourage moderation!)… But stay active and workout! Keeping your body moving and your metabolism up will help combat the extra holiday calories. Enjoy time with your loved ones and friends, but also make time for YOURSELF! Whether it’s your alone time or time to get together with a girlfriend, make workouts a PRIORITY every week!

Over the next three weeks, I will be posting 12 at-home workouts (4 per week). If you aren’t joining us for the Winter Wonder Woman session, promise yourself that you will do EVERY workout! You can print them up and take them to the park or do them in your living room. They are short and simple but will get you sweatin’ in no time!

If you are joining us for the Winter Wonder Woman session, challenge yourself to add a little extra heat to your week! Maybe double up and do two at-home workouts on your days off from Kaia! Finish out 2012 tough & strong!

Challenge yourself to give 100% to these workouts, especially the short ones! Work at max effort and post your times/comments to Facebook! Let’s keep each other motivated and accountable!

Happy Holidays!

Love, Megan

Admitting OBSESSION… and sticking with it!

Are you Kaia obsessed? Do you dread “rest” days? Do you wish it was BRIK all the time? If so, you’re not alone. Kaia becomes an infectious way of life and there’s nothing wrong with that! I know many of us have joked around about how much our husbands, boyfriends, friends, and mothers have to hear about Kaia, our workouts, how we’re eating and our amazing progress… As if that’s a bad thing! With these many conversations in mind and my ongoing thought of “I wish today were a Kaia day” every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, I found the following passage and couldn’t help but want to share it with you!

I AM UNBREAKABLE
By: Lucas G. Irwin

“Most people don’t understand, but you’re ok with that. For you, training is not a hobby or a social activity; it is a way of life. Those around you say that you are obsessed, taking it too far and possibly insane. They can’t understand why you won’t eat birthday cake, why you bring Tupperware full of chicken to a party or why you go to sleep early on a Friday to rest up for a Saturday training session. But you don’t care. Their accusatory tones, sarcastic remarks and insults are merely cotton bullets firing at a titanium wall of perseverance known as YOU.

You know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that any negativity that surrounds you is fueled purely by jealousy. Jealous that you are capable of unconditionally committing to something that most cannot stick to for more than a few weeks as part of their yearly resolution. Jealous that you gladly embrace a level of pain, discomfort and fatigue that others cringe at the idea of suffering a fraction of. Jealous that you take time to count carbs, protein, fats and calories while they count their chicken nuggets to make damn sure their 10 piece isn’t a 9 piece. In short, they’re Jealous of YOU.

Ironically, all the comments, nagging and questioning that is meant to break you down a little, does just the opposite. Every negative word reminds you of how special and uncommon your mechanical allegiance to training really is, in turn, pushing you harder. So bring it on! Let them call you obsessed, crazy or insane and watch you get stronger with every word. The only one who can slow you down is yourself. As far as the rest of the world is concerned, you are both an immovable object and an unstoppable force……

YOU ARE UNBREAKABLE.”

So ladies, I’m here to tell you that you are unbreakable. You might be a full-on Kaia addict and that’s AWESOME! Stick with that feeling, especially over the next couple months of holiday temptations… Here are some awesome tips about staying healthy through the holidays from Kaia FIT Corporate:

Six Top Kaia Tips to Keep Off the Holiday Weight Gain.

Choices… They’re ALL Yours

THIS THANKSGIVING…

Make the right choice.

-
It’s HALLOWEEN! Which officially means the holidays are on their way. Vow to make good choices this holiday season… Here’s a great way to start!

Join over 25 other Kaia Sacramento girls at the Run to Feed the Hungry on Thanksgiving morning by registering at: http://runtofeedthehungry.com/register/.
This is a great Sacramento tradition that supports a good cause and is a perfect way to start the big day! There are 5k and 10k options for walkers and runners.

“The average American will consume more than 4,500 calories and 229 grams of fat on Thanksgiving Day alone, according to the Caloric Control Council. “
Why not start Thanksgiving by BURNING calories instead of EATING them?

Holidays provide the perfect excuses to let it all go; we eat too much, workout too little and put the stretchy pants back on. Make this year different. Don’t lose sight of your goals and aspirations! The new year will be here before you know it, don’t back track!!

Make good choices, you’ll thank me later!

And… HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Abe (Casie’s husband and Kaia co-owner). Thanks for all you do ‘behind the scenes’ at Kaia!

Happy Week 4 Kaia Girls! Make it a great one!

-Megan
