Nutrition Challenge #1: NO SUGAR

Read your labels… Sugar is everywhere!

Happy Day 3 of NO SUGAR Week! How are you feeling?!

What we mean by No Sugar:

  • Read your labels! Nothing with over 9g of sugar listed under ‘Nutrition’ Facts
  • Don’t eat or drink anything with “Sugar Added” or sugar, cane juice, stevia, splenda, etc. listed in the ingredients
  • No sweeteners added to your coffee or anything else!
  • Natural sugar found in food (fruit, for example) is okay! Yay!

In my experience, when I cut sugar, I feel great on Day 1, Day 2 is a little rough (hello, headache!), but after Day 3 I’m feeling AWESOME and energized!! What about you? Please post your No Sugar feelings to comments!

Stay strong Kaia girls, committing to this for 7 days will be empowering and your workouts will be better because of it!
Come next Monday, work sugar back into your diet in moderation, if at all. If you feel good without sugar, listen to your body and continue to go without it. (Maybe allow yourself just one meal or treat a week with sugar in it.) Approach each weekly challenge with determination and an open mind!

Happy Sugar Free Eating!

  1. i made this my daily habit back during the last BRIK session. i started drinking coffee black- nothing added. i am not a huge sugar freak anyways and hardly ever ate sugar at all as im not a sweet tooth- but sooo many things you may not think have sugar- do! a HUGE things for me to cut out was cow milk—as much sugar in it as a reg soda!! cut out all sweetners now as well and i definatly feel great. the way i know is kinda the opposite— when i DO eat sugar on those rare occasions – i get sleepy and yes- want more! i found it best to just cut out all sugars and sweetners and just get my sweet fix if needed by fruit:) theres soo many diff types of fruit that can act as a sub- its your mind that needs to get into it:) took me about two weeks but i try my best to stick to the nutrition i learned in BRIK!

  2. i guess dont understand why no sweetners such as stevia,, splenda that act differently than sugar in our bodies? is it to change our taste buds? i do know that sugar is in everything…even things it doesnt need to be in! i also try to limit things that break down into sugar like cows milk, many fast carbs and alcohol. even high sugar fruits.

  3. Hey Desiree! Stevia is certainly a better option than sugar (or processed sweeteners like Splenda, Equal, etc) but this week it’s just about AWARENESS… Seeing how much we ‘need’ something to taste sweet. Going without any sweetener is a real challenge and can help you not crave it so much in the future. Hope that helps! XO, Megan

    • Totally makes sense, its crazy how you only realize your dependence on something when u stop/eliminate it. I have been trying to limit added sugars to 9grams and eliminate processed sugars since beggining summer sculpt, i also found a new love for almond milk (unsweetened ) i was a dairy/milk and sugar junkie! All good changes with kaia thx ;-)
